The rabbit is always shown in pictures with two front teeth sticking out and a carrot in hand. When cute-looking rabbits run they look even more adorable. Being very weak these poor animals are always killed by poachers and humans also hunt them for their meat and fur. But the trend of petting them has also increased a lot now. So let's talk about some informative facts about rabbits in today's post:
- There are 47 species of
     rabbits present on Earth today.
- The average lifespan of a
rabbit is 5 to 8 years. Whereas pet rabbits can live up to 8 to 12
years. The record for the longest life of a rabbit so far is 16
     years.
- Rabbits are very social
animals that live by making their own family and they are happy when they
are with the family. If they are kept alone then they become very sad
and under stress. They are very active at dawn and dusk when they go
out in search of their food.
- The smallest-sized
rabbits are 8 inches long and weigh less than 500 grams. Whereas the
big-size rabbits are 20 inches in length and 1.8 kg in weight. The
largest rabbit ever found is 4 feet 3 inches long and weighs 22 kg.
- Like dog puppies, bunnies
are also born blind and hairless, their body hair grows a few days after
birth and their eyes also open slowly.
- A female rabbit is called
a doe and a male rabbit is called a buck. Whereas the babies of
rabbits are called kittens. They are affectionately called Bunny.
- A female rabbit can
become pregnant 3 to 4 times a year and give babies and birth 3 to 8
babies at a time. Their gestation period is 28 to 31 days. They
have to take care of their baby for 4 to 5 weeks, after which their babies
start caring for themselves. Within 3 months of birth, these babies
become fertile and start their own family. Where rabbits live, if
there is no hunter to kill them, then the place is very quickly filled
     with rabbit population.
- Rabbits can run very
fast. Their running speed is 45 to 60 kilometers per hour. They
run in a zig-zag pattern to avoid their predators. Even while running
in this pattern, their speed can be 30 kilometers per hour.
- Like rats, the teeth of
rabbits also keep growing lifetime. Their teeth grow by 5 inches
every year. They also include some straw-like things in their food,
which they can chew on to rub off their growing teeth. Due to their
growing teeth, the rabbit is shown in the pictures with the front two long
teeth outed. They have 28 teeth in their mouth.
- When
the rabbits are happy, they jump in the air, dance and start
licking. Rabbits can jump 36 inches or more in the
air. According to the Guinness World Records, the highest jump ever
made by a rabbit is 3.26 feet and the longest jump is 10 feet. There
are also rabbit jumping competitions held in many places in the world, in
which people demonstrate their rabbit jumping art.
- Rabbits
like to be very clean. They clean themselves and others about five
     times in a day.
- Pet
rabbits can be easily trained to toilet in one place or in a
box. Rabbits living in the forest also go to the same place every
     time to toilet.
- You
must have seen a rabbit eating, how quickly they eat, don't
they? Rabbits chew their food 120 times in a minute and they are also
very smart in eating. They eat only their favourite food and while
eating they keep rolling their eyes around so that they can come to know
     immediately when anyone comes.
- Rabbit likes to eat
clean, fresh leafy vegetables and grass. 80% of their daily diet
consists of vegetables, leaves, fruits and sprouts. Carrot is the favourite
food of rabbits which is always shown in movies as eating rabbits.
- The eyesight of all
rabbits is sharper than that of humans. Due to their eyes being on
the side of their head, they can see 360-degree views all around, that is
why whenever you go to catch the rabbit from behind, he sees you without
turning his head and runs away. They simply cannot see exactly in
     front of themselves.
- Rabbits are able to hear
sounds coming from all directions very well with the help of their big
ears. They can also hear the sound coming from two different
directions simultaneously. Their ears can be turned upside down i.e.
180 degrees. The rabbit's body does not sweat; its large ears help in
     reducing its body heat.
- Rabbits
recognize their owner by their size, smell and voice.
- Rabbits
are one of the most commonly hunted animals. Whenever they move out
of their habitat, they are subjected to the eyes of predators, especially
wolves. As soon as the rabbit sees a danger, they warn other rabbits
about the danger by slamming their hind foot on the ground and they
     immediately enter in their burrow.
- With
their good eyesight, hearing and excellent sense of smell, they quickly
stun their predators, with the slightest carelessness of theirs, they
     become prey immediately.
- You will find it very
strange to know that rabbits eat their own feces, in fact they have to do
so. Cellulose is the main nutrient of their food, which has to be
eaten by the body to digest it properly. Whatever their
excreta is seen lying in the fields, it is the stool that comes out of
their body once after eating it. Their excreted feces act as the
finest quality fertilizers for the fields.

- Rabbits
make some sounds that seem like a cat's voice.
- Rabbits
have to take 4 hours of exercise and play every day, so that they can be
happy and their body bones are also strong. Otherwise, their bones
     start to weaken.
- Like
cats, rabbits also have whiskers on their heads, with the help of which
they are able to get out of holes and burrows. In fact, if their whiskers
cross a burrow without bending, the rabbit crosses that burrow without facing
any problem and if their whiskers bend during passing the burrow, then
they won't be able to go into that burrow.
- When a
female rabbit is pregnant, she plucks some of her own fur with her teeth
so that she can make bedding for the unborn babies.
- Rabbits'
heart beats 120 to 150 times a minute, and they breathe 30 to 60 times a
minute. While running or in fear, their heartbeat also reaches 300 per
minute, 300 in a minute i.e. 5 times in 1 second. Any kind of sudden
fear and shock can increase a rabbit's heartbeat so much that they can
even die. Their heart is too small for their body, which stops
working after a limit due to excessive fear.
- When
rabbits are angry, they start growling. Their growl can be easily
     heard.
- Rabbits
cannot vomit. They do not have enough muscles in their stomach that
their body sends food back towards the mouth. If they ever have to
vomit, they tend to eat a lot, so that all the food passes through their
stomach and also through the stool.
- Every
year millions of rabbits are killed for their soft meat and
fur. Their fur is used to make clothes which are sold very costly. Rabbit
is a prime source of food in Europe and Asia because of its thin soft
white flesh, which is high in protein but low in fat and cholesterol.
- Rabbit
and hare are two different creatures, rabbits are born blind and without
fur and hide when they see the predators. Whereas hares are born with
fur open eyes and they run away from the predators when they see them.
- Rabbits are also used for
the safety of many products. That's why many products have a rabbit
photo on them, which means that this product has not been used on animals.
- Rabbit
bones are very weak, so they should be lifted carefully, if they jump in
your hand while lifting, then their back bone can also break. There
are 5 fingers in their front foot, while there are 4 fingers in the back
foot, in total there are 18 fingers.
- When
rabbits are under stress due to fear of predators or when they are held in
the hand by someone, their body hair starts falling. Actually it is a
protective way of their body, so that their body does not shrink.
- Rabbit
keeping is illegal in Queensland (Australia), where only magicians can
keep rabbits, because they have to show their magic games on
     rabbits. ( Source )
- There
are millions of rabbits in Okunoshima Island (Japan), which increased to
such a large number due to leaving only 5 rabbits there during
1960. There are no natural predators present on that island, so their
population is increasing. The tourists who feed them there, they
surround it from all sides, they are not afraid of humans. That is
why that place is also called Rabbit Island. ( Source )
- In 2006, a German farmer
sent 12 large rabbits to North Korea for breeding purposes. But the
North Korean officials ate all the rabbits instead of breeding them and realizing
that the rabbits are being eaten, the German farmer refused to send more
     rabbits.
- Rabbits
should never be bathed, they should only be cleaned with water on the back
and back. Due to the sudden change in their body temperature due to
bath, they get shock, which can also lead to their death.
A scientist killed half of
Europe's rabbit population
- A
French scientist accidentally killed half of Europe's rabbit
population. Paul FĂ©lix Armand Delille injected myxomatosis virus into
two rabbits during one of his experiments, which was one of his
experiments to prevent plague disease. But within a few months, due
to this virus, the disease spread to the rabbits of Europe and within a
year 45% of the rabbits died. He was later prosecuted and released
     with a fine. ( Source )
