Whenever we buy a new quilt, the cotton stuffed inside that quilt is fluffy i.e. it is very slightly pressed. Due to this more air gets filled inside it. As we know that the air inside the quilt is an insulator of heat, so due to more air inside the quilt, less heat can pass through it and we remain warm inside the quilt. As that quilt gets old, the cotton inside it gets pressed, due to which it can hold less air, now due to less air inside the quilt, the heat starts passing through it and we start feeling cold. So now you must have understood how the new quilt feels so warm.
